What it is
Loropetalum chinense, the Chinese fringe flower, is an evergreen shrub of the witch-hazel family from China, Japan and the Himalaya. Its flowers have narrow, strap-like petals: white in the species, pink to magenta in the purple-leaved forms that make up most of the trade.
It is used for hedges, borders, mass planting and containers, and for its leaf colour all year.
